TechWatchAlert
Fleet and cloud

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

OCI compute instances and their packages, read from OS Management Hub.

What the connector does

The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure connector reads the tenancy's compute instances, compartment by compartment, and the packages installed on those registered with OS Management Hub. It signs its requests with the key of an API user whose group only has read rights: the private key never leaves TechWatchAlert.

What comes into TechWatchAlert

  • Each instance in the fleet: name, OS, IP addresses, state; terminated instances are ignored
  • Installed packages, for instances registered with OS Management Hub
  • Unregistered instances, flagged and kept in the fleet without packages

Setup

  1. Create an API user in a dedicated group, and a policy: inspect compartments, read instance-family and read osmh-family in the tenancy
  2. Add an API key to the user's profile and download the private key
  3. In TechWatchAlert, enter the tenancy and user OCIDs, the key fingerprint, the region and the private key
