Virtualization
VMware vCenter
vCenter and every ESXi host version monitored, with the list of your virtual machines.
What the connector does
The vCenter connector queries the vSphere API with a “Read-only” account. It reads the vCenter version, the version and build of each ESXi host and its hardware, then the list of virtual machines. An ESXi or vCenter flaw lands on the hosts actually affected.
What comes into TechWatchAlert
- The vCenter version and each ESXi host version, build included
- Host hardware: vendor, model, CPU, memory
- Virtual machines: name, guest OS, IP address, state
Setup
- In vCenter, create an account and give it the “Read-only” role at the inventory root, propagated
- In TechWatchAlert, enter the vCenter address, the account and its password
- Save, then run a first sync
