Microsoft Defender Vulnerability Management

The vulnerabilities Defender sees on each machine, software by software, checked against your cases without deploying anything.

What the connector does

The connector reads, through the Microsoft Defender API, the software vulnerability assessment of each machine, with a read-only application. It complements the Microsoft Defender for Endpoint connector, which reads installed software: the same machine is recognized by both.

What comes into TechWatchAlert

  • Each machine's vulnerabilities, per software, one row per CVE
  • Machines, linked to your fleet by their Entra ID identifier and last address
  • Unconfirmed fixes and untracked CVEs
  • Run history, with CVEs that appeared and disappeared

Setup

  1. In Entra ID, register an application with the WindowsDefenderATP permissions “Vulnerability.Read.All” and “Machine.Read.All”
  2. Grant admin consent, then create a secret
  3. In TechWatchAlert, enter the tenant, the application ID and the secret, then run the connection test
