Action1 alternative
Action1 is a cloud patch management platform, free up to 200 endpoints. TechWatchAlert also installs patches, but its starting point is different: knowing which vulnerability is exploited and affects your fleet, fixing it in that order, and proving it.
What Action1 is, exactly
Action1 installs operating system and third-party software updates on endpoints and servers, remotely, with vulnerability detection, automation and remote access. The vendor advertises a free plan up to 200 endpoints, then a per-endpoint price, and a program for MSPs.
The real differences
| Criterion | TechWatchAlert | Action1 |
|---|---|---|
| Patch installation | Yes, in rings and windows (Team plan) | Yes |
| Free plan | 5 machines, no patching | Up to 200 endpoints |
| Exploited issues first (KEV, EPSS, CERT-FR, EUVD) | Yes | Not disclosed |
| Repositories, containers and SBOMs | Yes | No |
| Scanners and IT asset tools read through their APIs | Yes | No |
| NIS2 and ISO 27001 reports | Yes (Team plan) | No |
| Jira, GLPI, ServiceNow tickets | Yes | Not disclosed |
| Public prices | Free €0 (5 machines), Pro €590 excl. VAT/year (25 machines), Team €1,790 excl. VAT/year (100 machines), then €2.50 excl. VAT per machine per month | Free up to 200 endpoints, then a per-endpoint price |
| Data hosting | France | Not disclosed |
For patching alone on a fleet of under 200 endpoints, Action1 is cheaper than we are. The comparison changes as soon as the question becomes: what to fix first, and how to show it.
What Action1 does better than we do
The price of patching. 200 endpoints without paying is an argument we cannot match: our free plan covers 5 machines, without patch installation.
Endpoint management. Remote access, scripts, software deployment: Action1 is closer to an RMM than we are.
What we do differently
The order of remediation comes from real-world exploitation. KEV catalog, EPSS, CERT-FR advisories and the EUVD database: an exploited vulnerability affecting your fleet comes before a hundred nice-to-have updates, with a deadline and an owner.
The scope goes beyond endpoints. GitHub and GitLab repositories, container images, SBOMs, scanners and IT asset tools read through their APIs: the same priority queue.
The evidence is produced along the way: deadlines met, accepted risks, NIS2 and ISO 27001 reports for management.
Who it's for, in practice
Under 200 endpoints, a need to patch, no NIS2 obligation. Free Action1 is an excellent choice.
A NIS2 entity, or a fleet with in-house applications. TechWatchAlert, Team plan: prioritization, patching, repositories and evidence in one place.
An MSP that already patches with its RMM. Keep it: TechWatchAlert reads NinjaOne, Datto RMM, N-central and Atera, and tells you what to fix first at each client.
Method and verification date
Facts checked on on the vendors' public pages, with no privileged access and no real-world testing of their product. The free plan and the pricing model come from Action1's public pages; the per-endpoint price beyond 200 is shown there in dollars and may change. An error, a change of offer? Report it through our contact page: we correct the row and re-date the page.
