Tenable alternative
Tenable is the benchmark for vulnerability scanning, from Nessus to Tenable One. TechWatchAlert does not scan the network: it starts from the agent, your IT asset tools and your scanner's results, prioritizes what is exploited, tracks the fix and produces the NIS2 evidence. The two are often combined.
What Tenable is, exactly
Tenable presents itself as a vulnerability and exposure management platform. Nessus Professional and Nessus Expert are scanners; Tenable Vulnerability Management runs them as SaaS, at fleet scale; Tenable One adds cloud, identities and an AI engine. Nessus and Tenable Vulnerability Management prices are published on the vendor's website.
The real differences
| Criterion | TechWatchAlert | Tenable |
|---|---|---|
| Active network scanning | No | Yes |
| Agent-based inventory | Windows, Linux, macOS | Yes |
| Tenable results read through the API | Yes | Not applicable |
| Exploited issues first (KEV, EPSS, CERT-FR, EUVD) | Yes | KEV, EPSS and its own score |
| Patch management | In rings (Team plan) | Separate module |
| NIS2 and ISO 27001 reports | Yes (Team plan) | Not disclosed |
| Repositories and SBOMs | Included (GitHub, GitLab, 13 formats) | Separate products |
| Public prices | Free €0 (5 machines), Pro €590 excl. VAT/year (25 machines), Team €1,790 excl. VAT/year (100 machines), then €2.50 excl. VAT per machine per month | Nessus Pro $4,790/year, Nessus Expert $6,790/year, Tenable VM $3,500 to $3,700/year for 100 assets |
| Interface languages | Seven languages, including English | English and other languages depending on the product |
| Data hosting | France | Depending on the chosen region |
At 100 machines, the Team plan comes to €17.90 excl. VAT per machine per year, Tenable Vulnerability Management to about $35 per asset. But they are not the same products: Tenable finds what nobody had inventoried.
What Tenable does better than we do
Scanning. Nessus discovers machines, exposed services and configuration gaps that neither an agent nor a connector reports. It is the core of Tenable's business, with a twenty-year head start.
Breadth. Cloud, identities, web applications, OT: Tenable One covers surfaces we do not.
The ecosystem. Integrators, training, certifications: a large enterprise finds around Tenable a network we do not have.
What we do differently
We read your scanner instead of replacing it. With the Team plan, TechWatchAlert queries Tenable through its API and compares its results with your cases, alongside the agent, Intune, GLPI or your RMMs: a machine seen by several sources is counted only once.
Priority comes from real exploitation, with European sources: the KEV catalog, EPSS, CERT-FR advisories and the EUVD database. Each vulnerability gets a deadline, an owner, a ticket.
Patching and evidence follow in the same tool: updates in rings, NIS2 and ISO 27001 reports, public price, hosting in France.
Who it's for, in practice
You already have Tenable. Keep it for scanning, connect it to TechWatchAlert for prioritization, follow-up and evidence: it is the most common use case.
An SMB with 50 to 300 endpoints and no scanner. The agent and your IT asset tools are often enough to start; a scanner can come later if the inventory remains uncertain.
A large enterprise, multiple surfaces. Tenable One meets a broader need than ours.
Method and verification date
Facts checked on on the vendors' public pages, with no privileged access and no real-world testing of their product. Prices come from Tenable's purchase page, in US dollars excluding tax; the per-machine comparison is an order of magnitude, without exchange rate. An error, a change of offer? Report it through our contact page: we correct the row and re-date the page.
